Goings-on

COMPANY ONE SHOWCASE

I finished a play! And an excerpt of it will be read as part of Company One’s “New Play, New Process” Showcase on Aug 14, at 7 pm. The play is called Lag Time, and it’s about the garment industry in Bangladesh, earthquakes, and the hazards of bad engineering.

THIS PLACE/DISPLACED WITH ARTISTS’ THEATER OF BOSTON

I’m participating in the Artists’ Theater of Boston‘s documentary theatre project This Place/Displaced. My piece “What Happens In This House” is one of eight plays exploring housing inequity and gentrification in the Boston area. This Place/Displaced runs from Aug 17-18, and Aug 24-25 at the Charlestown Working Theatre.

FELLOWSHIP AT COMPANY ONE THEATRE PLAYLAB

January marks the beginning of my fellowship at Company One Theatre‘s PlayLab! I look forward to working and learning alongside these amazing artists.

(VERY) SHORT PLAYS!

I’m honored to be invited back to the 2018 Boston One-Minute Play Festival, where I will be writing 2 one-minute plays about the culture we live in.

FOR MEMORIAL…

Memorial is the 2017 recipient of the Paul Stephen Lim Award from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. It’s also an honorable mention on the 2017 Kilroys List (!!!).

Some people, like the Valley Advocate and the New England Theatre Geek had kind things to say about Memorial.

Some people thought it was meh.

Oh and I contributed to the conversation about Asian-American narratives in Boston here.

FOR NIGHTFALL…

The Fresh Ink Theatre was kind enough to include it as part of the Ink Spot Reading Series in 2016.

It was a co-recipient of the Paul Stephen Lim Award from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. And the Goldberg Playwriting Prize and the John Golden Playwriting Prize from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

It was workshopped at New York University in collaboration with The Flea Theatre in May, 2014.
